FAQs:

I’m busy, how much time will this programme take?

We will have 8 sessions together (most are 60 minutes, 2 are longer). In between I encourage you to practise the wellbeing exercises every day for at least 15 minutes. We can discuss which exercises are best for you and I will point you to specific resources to follow (e.g. how to videos).

I don’t recommend that you try to go all-in and commit to a 1+ hour practice every day! If you don’t have any form of routine today, that would be unrealistic, unsustainable  and likely to only make you feel worse. We take small steps together in a way that’s supportive to you, wherever you may be.

How long will it take for me to feel better?

I am confident that you will start feeling better after just 30 days of using the exercises I give you. We will use our 1:1 sessions to make sure you’re seeing those improvements and make adjustments if required. If you still don’t feel better after our 8 weeks/ sessions I will support you for a further 2 weeks/ sessions with no additional charge. And if you still don’t feel any better, you will receive a 50% refund.

How do I know I’m experiencing burnout?

This is a great question! Burnout symptoms can overlap with other conditions. This video describes the early stages of burnout and this one the later stages. If you identify with these you almost certainly are experiencing burnout. If you’re still not sure you could see your GP or seek guidance from a therapist - maybe through your Employee Assistance Programme? You’re also welcome to schedule a 1:1 chat with me so we can agree on what support you need. 

This programme is designed to support those of you in burnout or experiencing chronic stress and wanting to avoid burnout.

I’m not a management consultant: can I do this programme?

Hannah has 20+ years in project & programme management and management consulting. Hannah experienced burnout when she was in a consultancy. As such, she is uniquely positioned to understand and support management consultants. The techniques shared in this programme will benefit anyone who is experiencing work-related burnout. You are welcome to schedule a 1:1 call with Hannah to discuss what’s going on with you and whether or not this programme is a good fit for you.

I’m exhausted, unfit or have physical limitations: can I do this programme?

Absolutely. I can tailor the exercises to your needs. I can offer alternatives to any of the physical exercises. Together we can ensure that everything is accessible and appropriate given your level of physical ability and energy. 

Are there any prerequisites?

Nope. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never tried meditation, mindfulness, yoga, tai chi or anything similar! I intend to meet you wherever you are. If you’ve done lots of these things before, great, we will go deeper. If not, let’s start with something you’ll find accessible and enjoyable so you can start reaping the benefits asap!

What will we do in our sessions?

This is a 1:1 programme so that’s entirely up to us  The programme follows the 4-step framework. The pace that we progress through 4 steps will be tailored to you as will my recommendation of which specific exercises will best suit you each week.

The first session will be a conversation about where you are, what you’re experiencing, how you feel, what you want, your priorities and more. From there we will create a plan tailored to your needs. When we meet we will review any exercises that you've completed since we last met to gain deeper insights and clear-up any hurdles you've come to.

We may use the time to talk through what’s happening in your world, any challenges you’re facing and guidance I can offer based on my years in consulting, project delivery and management and my years of practicing and teaching mindfulness & wellbeing practices. We may also practice some techniques live on the call.

We will revisit the plan we made and make any adjustments so that it continues to best support you.

What exercises will I need to do in between?

The exercises you will be set during this programme will include:

~ Writing exercises e.g. questionnaire and journalling

~ Breathing exercises

~ Meditation practices

~ Mindful movement practices (based on yoga and similar to tai chi - all can be tailored to your needs)

You will also be provided with some theory/ science videos to help you understand why & how the exercises work

Is there anything I’ll need?

The simplest answer is nothing beyond what you already have. For the movement practices I suggest wearing loose, comfortable clothing.

The exercises we practise can be performed with regular household items such as a blanket and cushions.

During the demonstration videos I will use a yoga mat. Yoga mats offer the benefits of being cushioned (helpful for when we lie down or are on hands-and-knees) and sticky so my hands and feet don’t slide around. 

I’d suggest not buying anything special until you know you need it. Try practising without and if you have any questions or want any suggestions just ask me.

I’m new to all this mindfulness, bodymind and yoga stuff; can I do this programme?

We were all beginners at one point! Good on you for trying something new.

I intend to meet you wherever you are. 

I can offer alternatives to any of the physical exercises that are not appropriate for you so that everything is accessible given your level of physical ability and energy. 

If it’s all new to you we will find something that you feel comfortable experimenting with so that you can enjoy your new experiences and start reaping the benefits asap!

I’m already speaking to a therapist, does this overlap?

I’m happy to hear you’re already making progress and confirm this is not a duplication of effort. 

The techniques you learn here will be complementary to the work you’re already doing. Let me know about the support you’re receiving elsewhere so we can ensure what we do together dovetails perfectly. 

My approach focuses on using the bodymind connection. There are some writing exercises but also mindfulness and body-based exercises which will enhance the work you are already doing.

I have other commitments; what flexibility is there around the timeframe?

This programme has been designed to offer support over 8 weeks.

It usually takes years for us to reach full burnout and some elements of recovery can't be rushed (in particular regaining your energy levels) so I don't suggest we try to compress the 8 weeks. We can extend the 8 weeks a little, over 12- 16 weeks but generally no longer.

At our first session we make a plan for how we will make our way through the programme and can schedule our 1:1 sessions at times that are mutually convenient, taking into account any holidays etc. either of us have planned.
