I used to be at the mercy of my stress response.

I've spent 20+ years in Tech. I was an IT consultant when I experienced burnout over 10 years ago. It was the lowest point in my life.

I now know that the writing had been on the wall for years but at the time I didn't know what chronic stress looked like.

I hadn’t realised that the recurrent infections, the slow recovery of my sprained ankle, the adult acne that was wreaking havoc across my face or our fertility issues could all be traced back to my stress levels.

I knew I had stress in my life, I knew I was having problems sleeping and I had muscle tension but I hadn’t realised that stress was behind all these other symptoms that I was struggling with.

I loved my job. I was working with international teams and colleagues, I was travelling and I was awesome at my work and I’d even won awards for my client successes. But it was all becoming too much.

I ran on adrenaline and coffee every day, had a very bad relationship with the snooze button, I hated mornings and my to-do list was running on a constant loop through my mind. I thought these were my superpowers - little did I know...

Burnout for me was exhaustion and emptiness. Life had lost it’s colour and I just existed on autopilot without the technicolour of emotions I had once known. I didn't know who I was any more and I wasn’t sure I’d ever get back to being myself. I was empty.

I was done.

I collapsed on the kitchen floor for hours. In that time I did a lot of soul searching. There in that mess I discovered something about myself that gave me inspiration to get off the floor. To take back control of my life and recover. Step by step I gradually emerged from burnout with healthier habits and more compassion for myself.

The road to recovery was long, slow and sometimes scary.

Now my burnout experience puts fire in my belly: I am on a mission to help you navigate stress and prevent burnout.

Years later I took the role of Head of Business Consulting, just before covid hit. When the global lockdown hit the organisation established an emergency mode of operation with regular reports into head office. I found myself in back-to-back meetings dealing with clients changing their minds and budgets daily, dealing with people-related issues, business performance concerns, mobilising new teams remotely and more.

On top of that we were having to home-school my daughter, Annie.

Frankly, it was TOO MUCH!

I applied my knowledge and techniques and found I was able to:

I’m busy, how much time will this programme take?

How long will it take for me to feel better?
